Executive Vice President - Reverend Ralph Benjamin

Reverend Ralph D. Benjamin serves as an Associate Minister of the historic First African Baptist Church of Sharon Hill, PA. He is a native of Darby Township and graduated from Darby Township High School. God has uniquely positioned him to preach, teach and serve the congregation and community where he grew up.

Reverend Benjamin has been involved in the Gospel Music Ministry for most of his life and he has been blessed to be able to share the Gospel in song in churches all across the country. He is a longtime member of the Gospel Music Workshop of America and has sung with several groups in the Philadelphia area including the Philadelphia Mass Choir, the Savettes and others.

In 1997, Reverend Benjamin was set aside and ordained a Deacon of the First African Baptist Church. His journey has taken him to many places throughout the world and he enjoyed a long and interesting 21-year career at The Franklin Mint where he was a Human Resources Manager. However, God called him to a greater work. There was no greater experience in his life than the moment that he accepted God’s call to minister and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. On September 5, 1999, Reverend Benjamin was licensed to preach and was ordained on October 28, 2001 under the pastorate of Reverend Dr. Richard A. Dent and the Eastern Keystone Baptist Association of Philadelphia.

He is an alumnus Lincoln University and has completed course work at Widener University. In May of 2001 Reverend Benjamin completed studies toward a Diploma of Pastoral Studies from the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary’s School of Christian Ministry. He is continuing his studies and is enrolled in the Master of Divinity Program at the Seminary.

Along with his duties as Assistant to the Pastor, he is involved with any ministries of the church including the Chosen 300 Homeless Ministry and the Youth and Music Ministries of the church. Reverend Benjamin also serves as a board member of CLC Ministries Inc.

Reverend Benjamin is married to Sonia Johnson Benjamin and they are the proud parents of a daughter, Alicia.
